Therapeutic style

People tend to describe me as curious, compassionate and lively/bubbly, and I try to show up as myself -a fellow human- during our therapy sessions. I identify as an integrative therapist, which means I combine ideas and techniques from different therapeutic schools of thought in order to tailor our sessions to your needs. The human experience is so rich and complex that there is no such a thing as a one-size-fits-all approach. I place a lot of importance on bringing our awareness to the present moment, and listening to our bodies and emotions as a way of receiving messages that can give us clues on how to move forward. For that same reason, all symptoms and emotions are welcome — If we listen closely enough while practicing self-compassion, they might tell us just what we need.

My intention of our work together is that you will become more aware of yourself: Your wants, your needs, your thoughts, your emotions, and your body, which will make it easier to make decisions that are more aligned with your values and intentions. I will work collaboratively with you to support you in creating a life you desire, by moving closer to your goals.

If I had to choose one word to describe what I have learned is most important for our mental health, that word would be CONNECTION. Our connection to ourselves, our connection to others, and our connection with our environment is vital to have fulfilling lives and to feel safe to explore in this world.

Person behind the therapist

I grew up in South America, surrounded by a warm, loving family, but in a conservative and rule-bound environment. Life seemed to revolve around a series of expectations and unspoken rules, such as:

  • Should  > Want/need
  • Mind > Feelings/body
  • Look good > Feel good
  • Rules > Intuition
  • Fear > Love
  • Fitting in > Belonging

I was the obedient child, excelling at everything expected of me. But inside, I felt like a big bird trapped in a small cage. Once I started University, I started to see glimpses of how life could be experienced in a different way.  In 2019, fueled by the intention of finding freedom, I moved to Australia for a year and then spent three months traveling in Asia.  By 2020, during the pandemic, I found myself in Vancouver, where I’ve made my home ever since. Living abroad became a journey of becoming more conscious of myself, unlearning outdated beliefs and embracing practices/habits that nurture my personal growth. I have become more aware of the life I want to re-build for myself.

Gradually, I began shifting my perspective:

  • Should  < Want/need
  • Mind < Feelings/body
  • Look good < Feel good
  • Rules < Intuition
  • Fear < Love
  • Fitting in < Belonging

It´s always a work in progress!

Through this process, I discovered my life’s mission: to connect with myself and others through love, and supporting others to do the same.

In my free time, I enjoy going to cultural/artistic events, dancing, being in nature, pulling tarot cards, meditating, journaling, and going to different classes/workshops. The activity that makes me feel more alive and happy is travelling! I identify as a heterosexual, cisgendered and Latinx/BIPOC woman.
